María Margarita Jassa Reyes, a mature woman with a jovial spirit, is still active at COMAR S.A. Maritime Consultants, 43 years after graduating with a law degree.
She began her career at the Mambisa Terminal Company in Havana from 1982 to 1993, moving that same year to COMAR S.A., serving as First Vice President for 21 years until her retirement. After reinstating, she has remained there until today (this will be 32 years in December). She tells us that she feels good and fulfilled in her job, as she enjoys her professional life, which she considers she carries out "with mastery and experience." Currently, in addition to her current role, she handles various administrative tasks as a Legal Specialist. When asked how she feels about being a woman working in the maritime and transportation sector, she eloquently responded, "It's not difficult. It's a very beautiful, complex, specialized activity, even more so from a legal perspective."
Her belief that learning never stops is essential in a constantly changing world, especially in the legal field, where legislation is constantly evolving. The way she approaches her work and her enthusiasm for sharing her wisdom reserves her a special place in the #SeaPeople community.
As she looks forward to enjoying her family in the near future, the legacy she leaves in her professional environment and the positive impact she has had on those around her is undeniable. Margarita is truly a role model, and her story is a reflection of the valuable contributions of women in all sectors, especially those underrepresented.
