Seminar on Maritime and Air Routes to Latin America and the Caribbean takes place.

Sponsored by the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Transportation, the Seminar on Maritime and Air Routes to Latin America and the Caribbean was held today, as an action of the Entrepreneurship Program in Export and Import Activity and as one of the activities prior to the celebration, from April 3 to 5 of this year, at Pabexpo, of the International Transport and Logistics Fair, FITL – 2024.
The meeting was chaired by Marta Oramas Rivero, First Vice Minister of Transportation, Naima Alfonso Acosta, Director of Associates of the Chamber of Commerce, Luis Rodríguez Hernández, Director of Transportation and Insurance of MINCEX, Pablo Hipólito Cuellar González, Director of the Directorate of Development and Analysis of Cargo Traffic and José Agustín Suárez Canel, Business Director, both from Mitrans, had the participation of representatives from the OSDE CACSA and GEMAR.
The participating companies explicitly spoke about the possibilities and capabilities they have in terms of increasing the competitiveness of Cuban exports and their international insertion, as well as the current conditions to guarantee an efficient logistics chain.
Likewise, the leading role of the Ministry of Transportation was highlighted in regards to export and import activities, ensuring the optimal chain between all the actors that participate in the internal logistics of the assurance chain for the transfer of goods.
The program presented a group of topics such as:
• The potential of air and sea connections available for export and facilitate the import of goods.
• The connections and airlines planned for 2024 with their origins and destinations in the different airports in the country.
• The company's freight routes, as well as the rates they offer for Cuban exporters.
• Cargo in transit through the country, boosting the Russian market.
• The main problems and challenges that maritime cargo transportation faces today.
• Facilities and services that freight forwarders can provide to Cuban exporters and importers
• Presentation of the RoRo Nova Orión and its routes
• Portfolio of services for the transportation of national cargo between airports and different tourist centers in the country.
The seminar constituted a favorable framework for direct exchange between businessmen from the state and private sectors, expressing doubts, suggestions, concerns and the search for possible solutions.
