That March 4, 1960 at around 3:10 pm Havana shook with the sound of an explosion. Some say they saw a cloud of dust in the shape of a black mushroom over the dock, others say that there was a fog of dust in their neighborhood and they rushed out to look for their children at school. All this was due to the explosion at the Havana dock of the French ship “La Coubre”.

Yesterday afternoon, like every year on this date, the Central Event was held in commemoration of the events of La Coubre. Relatives of victims of such an incident shared space with workers in the sector and government officials. Together they remembered the victims of such an event and denounced once again the involvement of the CIA in perpetrating the sabotage that became one of the terrorist acts that would be committed against the young Revolution.
