In compliance with the instructions of Operation Port Internal Economy (OPTEI), as well as the directives of Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, the Minister of Transportation, and the Minister of the Ministry of National Transport (MINCIN), the Director General of OSDE GEMAR, Roberto Ricardo Marrero, visited the port of Nuevitas as part of the Highest Inspection of MITRANS. During this visit, he was accompanied by government and party authorities, and the Provincial Transportation Delegate.

During the tour, he had the opportunity to witness the commitment of the company's staff and the stevedores, who were working hard to complete the unloading of rice from the Melba vessel according to plan. This action is essential to guarantee the population's basic food basket, which is why two brigades are operating per shift, supported by the necessary trucks for subsequent distribution. This coordination is part of a joint effort involving the Ministry of National Transport (MINCIN), Foreign Trade, and the Port Captain's Office.

During the visit, it was observed that the dockworkers were motivated thanks to the progressive piecework compensation system, which has contributed to creating a positive work environment. Furthermore, the quality of the food and the support of the administration were highlighted, reflecting the effectiveness of the new management in the port's recovery, which was acknowledged in the presence of the Board of Directors, the Party, and the company's union. The visit also served as a forum for information on the preparation of a file for the creation of a subsidiary of the Nuevitas UEB (Basque Industrial Estate). This initiative, which aims to grant more prerogatives and powers to the collective, was enthusiastically received by the workers, who see this measure as an opportunity to improve their performance and further contribute to the development and growth of the entity.
