Like every January 8, we remember that glorious day in 1959, when a group of intrepid and courageous young people entered Havana and injected joy into the entire Cuban people; In this way, the symbol of the nascent Revolution, Fidel, arrives in the country's capital.

The excitement among the population was noticeable and was reflected in each face, which accompanied that group of bearded young people with Cuban or July 26 flags. The Revolution was already here, its sure march at a tight pace was undeniable.

At night “The Caravan of Liberty” arrived in Ciudad Libertad, from there Fidel addressed the people:

“I think this is a decisive moment in our history: tyranny has been overthrown. The joy is immense. And yet, there is still much to do. We do not fool ourselves into believing that from now on everything will be easy; Maybe everything will be more difficult from now on. Telling the truth is the first duty of every revolutionary. Deceiving the people, awakening deceptive illusions, would always bring the worst consequences, and I believe that the people must be warned against excessive optimism."

From our historical memory and from that memory that remains in the hearts of the people, the custom of waiting for the “Caravan” each year will never be uprooted, as a symbol of our support and dedication to the revolutionary process.
