Cuba celebrates Maritime Port Workers' Day.

Maritime Port Workers' Day was celebrated this Saturday with the main event at the Trancargos Cargo Forwarding Company in the city of Regla. Present at the ceremony were Yudi Mercedes Rodríguez, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee; Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary General of the Cuban Workers' Federation (CTC); Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, Deputy Prime Minister; Tamara Válido Rodríguez, President of the Services Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power; and Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transportation.
Sixteen port system workers received the Aracelio Iglesias Díaz Distinction. Eight workers from the Trancargos Cargo Forwarding Company also received the Outstanding Award.
The Maritime Business Group presented the Western Port Services Company with recognition for the results achieved in the Port of Havana. Katia Labrada Vidal, general secretary of the National Union of Transport and Port Workers, delivered the keynote address, recognizing the dedication and commitment of the Port Workers. The union leader stated that the men and women who make up these groups have always demonstrated a fighting spirit for the Revolution.
Among the awards that will be presented as part of the event are the José María Pérez Capote Distinction, the Lifetime Achievement diploma for more than 50 years of service, and the status of National Outstanding to 23 labor groups. Among the objectives of the Transport Workers' Day celebration are to promote service quality, efficiency, combat indiscipline, illegality, and corruption within labor groups, and the rational use of available resources.
After the conclusion of Maritime and Port Workers' Day, activities for Transport Workers' Day begin nationwide with a ceremony at the Provincial Transport Company in Artemisa.
