Led by the Deputy Director of the GEMAR Business Group, Luis Alberto González Nieto, a group of OSDE executives toured the province of Cienfuegos today, Friday, May 23rd.

During this working visit, they reviewed the final activities of the naval repair being carried out by the UIM shipyards on the tugboat Caribe 4, essential for ensuring the transportation of cargo to Cayo Largo del Sur, and the securing for its completion.

As part of this program, they visited the ASTICAR facilities to learn about the progress, securing, and quality of the repair of the RoRo Pelícano and the Patana de Agua, belonging to the Empresa Navegación Caribe, also used for transportation to Isla de la Juventud and the aforementioned tourist destination. The hard work of the welders, who have proactively overcome the lack of resources and energy, was appreciated. There was also an exchange with the crew of the Tugboat Rafael Cabrera Mustelier, who performed a feat of labor (more information will be provided in a next post), repairing a main engine and installing a diesel generator in just 30 days and with their own resources. This speaks volumes about their sense of belonging and commitment to putting it back into service for this traffic.

Pilot work was also carried out in the important port of Cienfuegos, related to ensuring the Energy Recovery Program and the import of raw materials for the cement industry.
