In order to optimize the transit of ships in its Panamax Locks, taking into account the current and expected level of Gatun Lake.
According to information, an additional slot will be opened for Supers vessels during Reservation Period 2, which begins 14 days before the transit date, while at the beginning of Reservation Period 3, seven days before, two additional slots will be offered through auction.
Of the four daily quotas that will be auctioned, three will be offered to Supers and one to Regular vessels. In case of lack of interest on the part of Regular ships, the quota could be reassigned to Super ships. Details on the award criteria for these transit spaces will be announced together with the publication of the auction.
For Supers, the availability of additional places will begin in Reservation Period 2 from March 25. Applications for these additional places have been open since March 11. In addition, additional slots for transits starting on March 18 will also be auctioned starting March 11.
