Between iron and waves: Álvaro's life at the Shipyard.
Many boys and girls disassemble their toys as children just for the pleasure of putting them back together, perhaps this is how the passion of many engineers is born. Carts or an item with wheels are usually favorites; Hence, some respond to the question of what they want to be when they grow up, with the statement: car mechanics, of course.
The thing is, of course, few would think of saying that they want to build or repair a boat. The world of shipbuilding is still unknown when we talk about vocational training, this makes us even more surprised to find a young man with Boro's passion, specialized in this challenging branch.
Álvaro Barroso Fernández is passionate about shipbuilding, he graduated from the Naval Academy. Since then, his life has been a journey full of learning and dedication. Upon completing his studies, he was assigned by the Ministry of Transportation to the CDC Shipyard, where he began working on the dock in 2017 and is today its head of Naval Repair.
Before reaching this position, Álvaro had to go through all the shipyard workshops, acquiring a deep knowledge of each process. His day-to-day life at the dock consists of organizing all the production processes, ensuring that each task is carried out at the right time.
Currently, he is supervising the repair of a ship, coordinating with the commercial department and distributing activities among the workshops.

Álvaro works closely with his subordinates, including administrative assistants and department heads, to ensure that each task is communicated and executed correctly. His relationship with his colleagues is excellent, since he values communication and a good work environment. He firmly believes that work should be a positive experience and that a good relationship with the team is key to success.
Despite the challenges, especially in these times, Álvaro speaks about his work with great dedication. Fascination with ship design and the mystery of how a piece of iron can float and sail keeps him motivated. For him, each boat is a little piece of his country, a world in itself that requires many elements to function. correctly. His dedication and passion for shipbuilding are evident in every project he undertakes.
