Beyond a profession…

It's no coincidence that when you arrive at the Centro Port Services Company, you're one of the first people you see. Nor is it a whim of life or someone's idea that your knowledge, experience, and mastery of your job distinguish you. And there are plenty of reasons for her, a woman of the port, to give her all and watch over her ethical duties as a secretary with the zeal of a mother and grandmother.
"Who would have imagined I would be a secretary? Since I was a child, I've always been restless, curious, motivated to learn. But it really wasn't something I thought I would do, much less do it continuously."
For almost five decades, Daisy Flores Blanco has worked as a secretary at the Centro Port Services Company. Her unconditional passion for this activity and adherence to the principles that govern the profession have been her greatest asset, earning everyone's respect.
“People sometimes get an idea about me or the secretary as such, an idea that's not always the best, of course (laughs), but that's who I am, a woman with the same problems as everyone else, but I always leave home and family behind when it comes to work. In other words, I separate personal and professional life. When I'm here, I'm here. Sometimes serious, sometimes happier, but always trying to manage every response or solution to a problem. That's my life, the one I chose, yes, because being a secretary is like having a little piece of your home and family here, in this space that is my office, in a company that is also my home. Everything I do here is done with as much love and respect as if it were for my family. I can't separate the sense of belonging I have for my work from my day-to-day life.”
The deepest identification a professional has with the activity they perform is what unites this woman with her company, with the successive directors she has worked with, with her team. A lifetime dedicated to listening, caring, socializing, taking on tasks, ensuring, and applying everything related to the principles and values that should characterize every secretary. This has been and continues to be her vision and commitment in a sector and for a sector with which she identifies.
“Being a secretary for me means not limiting myself, and when I say not limiting myself, it means doing a little more than what I'm supposed to. I don't like staying behind the desk or staying within the office; I've always sought and committed to enriching the work of a secretary. From organizing activities, morning meetings, extraordinary meetings, sales of products to employees, trips to the beach, employee recognition, functions within the Party core, initiatives for events, in short, everything that gives life and enriches our work. I also strive to improve myself, although technology isn't my time, I do make it my own or try to make it my own (laughs). Being in tune with technological regulations is also a role I assume. I believe that every secretary, because there are some, should never limit themselves, open themselves to more, be politically and ideologically prepared and convinced of it, apply innovative writing and translation resources, embrace information technology, in short, everything that keeps the secretary as the heart and soul of every institution or company.” And most importantly, feeling like a secretary, respecting and earning respect, that's key."
Daisy is undoubtedly one of those knowledgeable individuals who have accompanied and are part of the history and development of Servicios Portuarios del Centro. Moments lived and still live, experience, guidance, and advice, all in the face of decisions to be made, a faithful witness to every process that emerges inside and outside of what she calls "my other home." A woman who sees and feels pride in the activity in which she sees no barriers, neither communicative, ideological, nor social. A woman who decides to always win and go beyond her profession.
