Last March 16, we had the opportunity to arrive at the Port of Batabanó. There we shared with several workers and they told us their main concerns and problems that afflict them and most importantly, they offered possible solutions or at least the path that must be taken to solve them.

It was impressive to observe how the group is united and complements each other as the good maritime family that it is, even in the face of the uncertain future that is predicted regarding some issues. The resilience of the company's staff tests any task entrusted to them; especially, that capacity that their women show from their field of action, as well as how they live with the passion that characterizes Cuban women: Belkis Rodríguez Páez (freight sorter) aspires to validate herself in working with forklifts; Odissey Morales García (cargo in transit controller); Loreta Chacón Quintero (inspector of faults and breakdowns) and Dominica Perea Contreras (issuer of documents) from their space and faced with the daily vicissitudes, function fully as port women and are in the company until the loading or unloading process ends and they Better yet, they do it all with a smile on their face.

They told us about the impact of the last cyclone and how the seawater reached their chests inside their houses, but nothing deterred them. Its director, Arístides Feraudys Freinoso - who at that time was Vice President of the Assembly - was closely involved in the task of proceeding with the process of unloading and distributing mattresses for those affected (a total of 600 mattresses were delivered, free of charge, to the vulnerable. and for a reasonable price to the rest of the population).

These beautiful people give a little more of themselves every day, to turn Batabanó and the Isle of Youth into areas longed for by those who leave them behind in search of other life projects and the best little corner of the earth for those who live there every day. For them, our respect and admiration for believing in a better Cuba.
